Lachlan Sedsman — Instructor, Yudansha, Koryu Uchinadi Kenpo Jutsu

Lachlan trained in GKR karate for eight years, reaching 2nd Kyu, before finding Koryu Uchinadi and the reasoning behind the techniques he'd been drilling. Seven years later he graded to Yudansha under Shawn Donaldson.

He teaches concepts rather than movements, and reckons the best moment in any class is watching something finally click for a student. Alongside the self-defence, he values what training does for focus, balance and clearing the head.

James Marcus — Instructor, Yudansha, Koryu Uchinadi Kenpo Jutsu

James' karate journey started as a child and with some further training throughout university, however it was not until commencing training at Denshinkan that his training found its form. James trained under Sense Shawn for 11 years before grading to Yudansha.

James believes everyone’s karate journey is their own, however it can be helped along the way. Our open and encouraging dojo is home to skills taught not just as a tickbox. Rather it is experienced through ‘hands on’ technique with a focus on practical application.

Whatever your level of experience, whatever your level of intensity, we will teach not only what to do and how to do it. We will show you why it works so you can truly understand the fundamentals of self-defence.

Shawn Donaldson — Chief Instructor, Renshi

Shawn began training in 1987 and has been teaching since 1996. He is the South Australian regional director under Hanshi Patrick McCarthy and has trained across a wide range of arts. His grades include Renshi certification with the International Ryukyu Karate Research Society, 4th Dan in Koryu Uchinadi Kenpo Jutsu, 3rd Dan in Aikikenpo Jujutsu, 3rd Dan in Shotokan Karate, and 2nd Dan in Chon Tu Kwan Hapkido. Shawn continues to teach at the dojo regularly and remains the school's technical authority. Shawn is listed among the IRKRS's accredited instructors worldwide.
